FAQ

A historic region in North-Central Sri Lanka centered on Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, and Dambulla/Sigiriya—home to ancient capitals, stupas, rock fortresses, and cave temples.

Sigiriya or Dambulla are the most central bases with the widest range of stays. From there, day-trip to Polonnaruwa and Anuradhapura.

Ideal: Jan–Mar (dry, sunny). Shoulder: May–Sep (fewer crowds; still workable).

Dambulla is the bus hub; private car/driver is faster and lets you combine sights efficiently.

Cover shoulders and knees, remove shoes/hats, and avoid selfies facing sacred statues.

Major sites (Sigiriya/Polonnaruwa/Anuradhapura) are sold via Sri Lanka’s Central Cultural Fund portal; Dambulla is paid on site.
